Academic Scholarships and the General Excellence Awards at Ivanhoe Grammar School are available to both current students and students not currently attending Ivanhoe Grammar School.

Year 9 University Campus Scholarships are available to external students only.

International Baccalaureate (IB) Scholarships are available to external students only.

All Academic Scholarships and General Excellence Awards at Ivanhoe Grammar School are available for entry into either Year 7 or Year 10

To coincide with the opening of Ivanhoe Grammar School’s Year 9 University Campus at Latrobe University in 2019 (read more about the new campus), the School is offering a limited number of Academic Scholarships for entry into Year 9, 2019. Candidates will apply for the University Scholarship and also nominate their preferred campus (Ivanhoe or Plenty) to complete their Senior Years Studies.  These scholarships will provide up to 50% reduction in tuition fees for the duration of the students’ time at Ivanhoe Grammar School. The candidate’s suitability will be based on their ACER Academic Test result and subsequent interview.

Applications are now open and will close Friday 16 March 2018. 

Testing date is Saturday morning 24 March 2018

Application Fee is $120

General Excellence Awards

Download the General Excellence Application Form.

Awarded based on high academic potential, demonstrated leadership skills, recognised citizenship qualities and a particular talent in one or more of the following areas: visual arts, music, performing arts or sports.

General Excellence Awards are offered based on a refereed application and interviews.

Applications for entry into Year 7 or Year 10 in 2019 will open from 21 November 2017.

Applications close on Friday 16 March 2018.

Interviews will begin in mid-March and continue until the end of May 2018.

The Application Fee is $100

As part of the General Excellence Awards process, there are a number of other scholarships that may be awarded based on specific criteria.  The recipients of these awards are identified from the pool of applications received for the General Excellence Awards. Scholarships that may be awarded under the General Excellence category include:

International Baccalaureate (IB) Scholarship – Ivanhoe Campus

Applications for entry into Year 11 2019 will be available for download from 16 July 2018. 

Closing date for applications is Friday 24 August 2018.

Applicants are required to demonstrate outstanding academic ability and a genuine desire to complete the International Baccalaureate Diploma.

Year 9 NAPLAN Results

One (1) written Character Reference

Shortlisted candidates may be required to attend an interview with the Principal.

Academic Scholarships

Applications for 2019 entry are now closed.

Academic Scholarships are based on a 3-hour exam designed to assess the skills the student has been developing during their years at School such as thinking and comprehension, problem solving and reasoning. 

The exam for this scholarship will be held on Saturday morning 24 February 2018.

Scholarships

The University of Delaware’s Institute for Global Studies currently offers two scholarship programs, IGS Need-Based Scholarships and the Delaware Diplomats program. 

 

IGS Need-Based Scholarships

 

How much,

and how may it be used?

Covers up to 50% to 75% of the Program Fee:

  • may only be used towards the final balance
    (not initial $1000 payment)
  • may not be used toward: tuition, books, registration fees, airfare, personal expenses, etc.
Who is eligible?

Full-time, matriculated UD undergrads applying to UD travel study (not exchange) programs who have:

  • high level of financial need determined by UD’s Office of Student Financial Services (make sure you have a current FAFSA on-file!)
  • strong UD GPA (usually 3.00 or higher)
  • no prior IGS Need Scholarship
  • no prior participation on UD travel study

What do I need to do,

and by when?

By the application deadline, submit:

(ask more than 1 professor)

(even if your faculty director does not require this, you MUST have a recommendation to be considered for an IGS scholarship)

When are awards announced?

Scholarships are announced when acceptances are announced.
(scholarship and acceptances decisions are in the same email)

Are IGS Scholarships competitive?Yes. All students are considered, but only approximately 30% of students receive an IGS award.
If I receive an award, will I be asked to do anything?

Yes.  You will be asked to:

  • email IGS your 2 best photos depicting what you have learned about the local culture of your program location
  • contribute brief, weekly written submissions and photos for the IGS Global Blog
Specific instructions will be given prior to departure.
Could I receive multiple awards?

Multiple IGS Need Scholarships?  No.

An IGS Scholarship and also a Delaware Diplomat award?  Yes.
If I receive an award, how could I lose it?  What would happen?

You will be required to repay your scholarship award in full if you:

  • get a serious judicial violation before the program begins
  • are dismissed from a program due to improper conduct
  • withdraw from a program after funds have been spent on your behalf
If I don’t receive an award, would IGS reconsider?All IGS Scholarship award decisions are final and subject to a student conduct review.

 

 

Delaware Diplomats

 

The Delaware Diplomats is a campus engagement opportunity open to freshmen, sophomores and juniors

with an interest in international exploration, global cultures, and education abroad. By participating in on-campus

events with a global focus, students can earn scholarship funds applicable towards UD travel study programs.

If I receive Delaware Diplomat funding, will I be asked to do anything?

Yes.  You will be asked to:
